Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles following a performance with a smaller folk groups. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered the song's early versions and was aware that the song would be one of the Top 10 hits. A few days after the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
